Joyce Cha, Psy.D.
Joyce Cha, Psy.D. is a 2nd generation, Korean-American licensed psychologist who completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from George Fox University. Dr. Cha has received specialized training in child and adolescent development and Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples, and is currently training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which is an experiential therapy focusing on using the safety and security of the therapeutic relationship to undo aloneness and move through difficult emotional experiences. She has a special interest in working with women, BIPOC, survivors of trauma, shame, relationship/interpersonal patterns, and attachment issues.
Using self-compassion, Dr. Cha aims to help her clients understand themselves and others in a deeper way, develop a stronger sense of self, and ultimately create stronger and more genuine relationships, beginning with the relationship that develops in therapy. Growing up in a bi-cultural family, Dr. Cha learned to understand the significance of cultural values and attune to the challenges of integrating aspects of culture into our identities and relationships. Dr. Cha works to foster a warm, authentic, and supportive environment to facilitate awareness and growth within her clients.
