Joyce Cha, Psy.D.


Joyce Cha, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist who completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Joyce completed her internship at the Department of Health and Human Services for the Village of Hoffman Estates in Illinois. Although Dr. Cha has received specialized training in child and adolescent psychology and Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples, she enjoys working with individuals of all ages. Dr. Cha's theoretical approach integrates interpersonal, experiential, attachment-oriented, feminist, and Gestalt therapies into her clinical work. She has a special interest in working with women, survivors of various traumas, shame, relationship/interpersonal problems, attachment issues, anxiety, and depression. 


As a therapist, Dr. Cha aims to help her clients understand themselves and others in a deeper way, develop a stronger sense of self, and ultimately create stronger and more genuine relationships, beginning with the relationship that develops in therapy. Growing up in a bi-cultural family, Dr. Cha learned to understand the significance of cultural values and attune to the challenges of integrating different aspects of culture into our identities and relationships. Dr. Cha works to foster a warm, authentic, and supportive environment to facilitate awareness and growth within her clients. She is also a strong proponent of incorporating self-compassion into her work.
