David Lewallen, Psy.D., Psychology Resident

Dr. David Lewallen is a Psychology Resident who is supervised by Dr. Tami Hoogestraat. He holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon. He completed his internship at Centerstone Consortium in Florida where he received experience working with adults and teenagers. David has primarily worked with adults struggling with anxiety, depression (mood disorders), hoarding, adjusting to life transitions including mild brain injuries, relationship/interpersonal problems, spirituality/faith issues, and screen time. In addition, he has worked with teenagers with anxiety, depression, and defiant tendencies. Dr. Lewallen has a research interest in screen time and parenting. Dr. Lewallen utilizes an integrative approach drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Humanistic perspectives in his clinical work. As a therapist, Dr. Lewallen develops a collaborative relationship with his clients to foster better understanding of how their thoughts, feelings, and behavior affect one another and those around them.

 

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Lewallen and his wife enjoy being in the outdoors, exploring the Northwest, cycling, and training for a full Ironman triathlon.
